The PSPO empowers police to issue fines for various anti-social behaviors, including excessive speeding, noisy modified exhausts, and dangerous stunts. In just one year, Norfolk Police received 95 calls in Norwich related to vehicle-related anti-social behavior, with more than half of these incidents occurring in the Britannia Road area. This has had a significant impact on residents, such as Stephen Robinson, who described it as 'quite intimidating' and disruptive to daily life.
What makes this situation particularly concerning is the potential for serious harm. Boy racers, driven by the thrill of speed and the desire to modify their vehicles, can cause accidents and injuries. Excessive speeding and dangerous stunts are not just a nuisance; they are a public safety hazard. The fact that the PSPO has been extended to address this issue is a step in the right direction, but it raises the question: why are these behaviors still occurring?
